Nevsehir Kapadokya Airport (NAV) is the closer of two airports serving the Cappadocia region, sitting approximately 35–40km from the main tourist village of Göreme. It is smaller and has fewer routes than Kayseri Airport (ASR), but if your airline flies into NAV - which is increasingly common with Turkish Airlines domestic routes and some charter services - it puts you meaningfully nearer the heart of the region. This guide covers every transfer option from NAV with realistic 2026 prices.
Nevsehir vs Kayseri: Which Airport to Use
Before planning your transfer, it is worth understanding the two-airport situation in Cappadocia.
Nevsehir Kapadokya Airport (NAV) is approximately 35–40km from Göreme and around 35km from Ürgüp - the two most popular bases for visitors. Journey time is 35–45 minutes. The airport handles domestic Turkish Airlines flights from Istanbul (IST and SAW), Ankara, and Izmir, as well as some seasonal charter services. The runway is short, limiting it to mid-sized aircraft.
Kayseri Airport (ASR) is approximately 75km from Göreme and 65km from Ürgüp. Journey time is 75–90 minutes. Kayseri is served by more routes, including more Turkish Airlines frequencies and Pegasus domestic services. Kayseri also has the Havas airport bus - a clear advantage for budget travellers.
Rule of thumb: if NAV serves your exact departure city and the fares are comparable, choose NAV. If you are flexible on departure airport, check both fares and factor in the transfer cost difference - NAV transfers are roughly ₺200–400 cheaper per car than those from Kayseri, which can offset a slightly higher flight cost.
Why There Is No Bus from Nevsehir Airport
Unlike Kayseri, which has a Havas bus connection to the city and onward services to Cappadocia, Nevsehir Airport (NAV) has no scheduled public bus service. The road to the airport is not served by regular intercity routes, and the airport’s smaller scale means the commercial viability of a shuttle bus has not materialised.
This means every arrival at NAV requires either:
- A pre-booked private transfer
- A metered or negotiated taxi from the rank
- A pickup arranged through your accommodation
Option 1: Private Transfer (Most Recommended)
For most visitors arriving at NAV, a pre-booked private transfer is the most practical and reliable option. Prices are fixed, the driver tracks your flight, and you go directly to your accommodation without negotiating at the taxi rank after a flight.
You can compare and book fixed-price airport pickups through Welcome Pickups.
Approximate private transfer prices from NAV (2026):
| Destination | Approximate cost |
|---|---|
| Göreme | ₺450–700 |
| Ürgüp | ₺420–650 |
| Avanos | ₺480–750 |
| Uçhisar | ₺450–700 |
| Mustafapaşa | ₺440–680 |
| Ortahisar | ₺430–670 |
Book through a transfer platform, through your hotel (most Cappadocia cave hotels and boutique properties organise airport pickups as standard), or via your tour operator. Confirm pickup details - terminal, flight number, and mobile number - when booking.
Early morning arrivals and balloon flights: Many visitors book a dawn hot air balloon flight for their first morning in Cappadocia. If your flight arrives the evening before, check whether your balloon operator can pick you up directly from NAV if you land within a few hours of the balloon launch time - some operators accommodate this.
Option 2: Taxi from NAV
Taxis wait outside the arrivals exit at Nevsehir Airport. There is no official meter tariff published specifically for the airport-to-Cappadocia route; most drivers quote a fixed rate. You should negotiate before entering the vehicle.
Approximate taxi fares from NAV (2026):
| Destination | Approximate cost | Journey time |
|---|---|---|
| Göreme | ₺400–650 | 35–45 min |
| Ürgüp | ₺380–600 | 35–45 min |
| Avanos | ₺450–700 | 40–50 min |
| Uçhisar | ₺420–650 | 35–45 min |
| Kayseri city (for onward connection) | ₺600–900 | 45–60 min |
Tips for negotiating taxis:
- Know the approximate fare before arriving - the prices above are a reasonable guide
- Be firm but polite; the airport rank knows foreign visitors are the primary customer
- Confirm the fare includes all luggage before loading
- If you are a solo traveller, the fixed rate is the same as for a group - consider asking if another passenger is heading the same direction to split the cost
Option 3: Hotel Pickup
The majority of Cappadocia’s accommodation - from cave hotels in Göreme to boutique properties in Ürgüp and Uçhisar - offers airport pickup as a service, either included or at an additional charge. This is worth checking when you book.
Hotel pickups typically cost the same as or slightly more than private transfers, but the coordination is handled by the hotel and you know exactly who to look for at arrivals. If your accommodation offers this, it is often the simplest option.
Route Notes: NAV to Cappadocia
The main road from Nevsehir Airport to the Cappadocia villages runs through Nevşehir city, then branches east toward Göreme, Ürgüp, and the wider region. The road is well-paved and clearly signed. There are no tolls on this specific route.
Landscape note: The transfer from NAV gives you one of the better introductions to Cappadocia’s landscape. As you leave the plains around the airport and enter the valley system approaching Göreme, the fairy chimneys and rock formations appear progressively - a strong first impression if it is your first visit to the region.
Getting Between Nevsehir Airport and Kayseri
If you arrive at NAV but need to connect to Kayseri for onward travel, taxis can take you to Kayseri city for approximately ₺600–900. There is no direct bus between the two airports.
Conversely, if you are departing the region via NAV from Kayseri, your hotel can arrange a transfer or you can book independently.
