Alanya is one of the busiest resort destinations on Turkey’s Mediterranean coast, but it sits in an awkward spot geographically - far enough east along the Riviera that neither of its two serving airports is particularly close. You have two options: Gazipasa Airport (GZP), which is the closer airport at around 45km east of the city, or Antalya Airport (AYT), which is 130km to the west but serves far more international routes. This guide explains the transfer options and realistic costs from both airports.
Understanding Your Airport Options
Before planning your transfer, it’s worth checking which airport actually makes sense for your trip.
Gazipasa Airport (GZP) is officially “Alanya-Gazipasa Airport” and sits approximately 45km east of Alanya centre, in the small coastal town of Gazipaşa. Journey time to Alanya is 35–45 minutes. The airport handles a limited number of routes - mainly seasonal charter flights from Germany, the Netherlands, Scandinavia, and Russia, plus year-round domestic connections to Istanbul. If your charter or tour package flies into GZP, it is the far more convenient option for Alanya.
Antalya Airport (AYT) is 130km west of Alanya and serves significantly more international routes, including low-cost carriers from across Europe, year-round scheduled services, and connections via Turkish Airlines. Despite the distance (90–120 minutes by road), many travellers to Alanya fly via AYT because it’s the only option their airline serves.
Transfers from Gazipasa Airport (GZP)
Gazipasa is a small airport with no public bus service to Alanya. Your realistic options are taxi, private transfer, or a rental car.
If you would rather skip the taxi rank, Welcome Pickups offers fixed-price private transfers from both Gazipasa and Antalya airports to Alanya.
Taxi from GZP to Alanya
Taxis wait outside the arrivals exit at Gazipasa Airport. The fare to Alanya city centre is approximately ₺500–750 as of 2026, with the journey taking around 35–45 minutes along the D400 coastal highway.
- Always confirm the meter is running or agree a fixed price before departure
- For resort areas slightly east of Alanya city centre (Kestel, Mahmutlar, Kargicak), fares are similar or marginally less
- For the Alanya peninsula (castle area, Cleopatra Beach), expect the upper end of the range
Private Transfer from GZP to Alanya
Pre-booked private transfers offer a fixed price and a driver waiting at arrivals. For families or groups, this is often the most stress-free option.
Approximate prices (2026):
| Route | Estimated cost |
|---|---|
| GZP → Alanya centre | ₺600–900 |
| GZP → Alanya peninsula / castle area | ₺650–950 |
| GZP → Mahmutlar or Kargicak | ₺550–800 |
| GZP → Side (for onward connection) | ₺900–1,300 |
Rental Car from GZP
Gazipasa Airport has a small number of car rental desks - availability is more limited than at Antalya. If you plan to drive independently in the Alanya region, book well in advance. Economy cars start from approximately ₺800–1,200 per day as of 2026.
The D400 coast road connects Gazipasa to Alanya and is straightforward driving, though the road through Alanya city itself can be congested in summer.
Transfers from Antalya Airport (AYT)
Antalya Airport is the main international gateway for this stretch of the Turkish coast. The distance to Alanya is approximately 130km, making it a genuine journey rather than a quick transfer.
Private Transfer from AYT to Alanya (Recommended)
A pre-booked private transfer is the most practical option for most travellers arriving into AYT bound for Alanya. It eliminates the need to navigate Antalya city for a onward connection and goes directly to your accommodation.
Approximate prices (2026):
| Route | Estimated cost |
|---|---|
| AYT → Alanya centre | ₺1,200–1,800 |
| AYT → Alanya peninsula / castle area | ₺1,250–1,850 |
| AYT → Mahmutlar | ₺1,100–1,700 |
| AYT → Side (midway stop option) | ₺800–1,100 |
Journey time is 90–120 minutes in normal traffic. Peak summer traffic, particularly on the D400 through Side and Manavgat, can add 30–40 minutes.
Shuttle Bus from AYT to Alanya
Several operators run shared shuttle services from Antalya Airport to Alanya. These are cheaper per person but take longer, as the bus stops at multiple hotels and resorts along the route.
Price: approximately ₺300–500 per person
Journey time: 2.5–3.5 hours (including stops)
Shuttle services are typically available through your hotel, tour operator, or transfer booking platforms. They are practical if cost is the priority and time is not.
Public Bus (Indirect Route - Not Recommended)
It is technically possible to take the Havas airport bus from AYT to Antalya city centre, then a Metro or Kamil Koç coach from Antalya otogar (bus terminal) to Alanya otogar. The coach takes about 2–2.5 hours and costs approximately ₺150–250. Total journey including the Havas bus and the wait at the otogar is 3.5–4.5 hours with luggage. This route is practical only if you are travelling alone with minimal luggage and are comfortable navigating two separate services.
Taxi from AYT to Alanya
Airport taxis at AYT are metered but for long journeys many drivers negotiate a flat rate. Expect approximately ₺1,500–2,500 for a direct taxi to Alanya - significantly more than a pre-booked private transfer. Not generally recommended for this distance.
Key Notes for Both Airports
Timing: The D400 coast road through Side and Manavgat can be heavily congested during July and August, particularly on weekends. If your flight arrives midday on a weekend in summer, add 30–45 minutes to journey time estimates.
Resort-specific pickups: If your hotel is in a specific Alanya district (Oba, Kestel, Tosmur, Mahmutlar), confirm the exact delivery address when booking a transfer. Drivers know the resort areas well but confirming in advance avoids confusion.
Return transfers: Book your return airport transfer at the same time as your arrival transfer. Demand is high in summer; last-minute bookings can be more expensive or limited.
