Dalaman Airport (DLM) is the gateway to the Turkish Aegean and turquoise coast, handling flights from across Europe into the Fethiye, Ölüdeniz, Marmaris, Köyceğiz, and Dalyan regions. The airport itself sits about 5km from Dalaman town, but the destinations most travellers are headed for - Fethiye, Ölüdeniz, Göcek, Marmaris - are 55–90km away by road. Getting the transfer right before you land saves time and avoids expensive metered fares on long routes. This guide covers all options with approximate 2026 prices.
Airport Overview
DLM operates from a single terminal handling domestic and international arrivals. The terminal is well-organised and manageable in size - not the sprawl of IST, but busy in peak summer when charter flights run continuously.
On arrival you’ll find:

- Official taxi rank (immediately outside the exit)

Option 1: Pre-Booked Transfer Shuttle (Recommended for Most Travellers)
There is no state-run Havas airport shuttle from DLM equivalent to Istanbul or Ankara. Instead, the transfer market is served by a mix of local operators, resort shuttle companies, and online platforms. Pre-booking a shuttle or private transfer is the standard approach for almost all international arrivals at Dalaman.
Shared shuttle (per-person pricing): Shared minibuses collect multiple passengers from the terminal and drop them at different hotels in a region. This is the cheapest option for solo travellers and couples.

Note: for groups of 4, a metered taxi to Fethiye becomes more cost-comparable with a private transfer when split per person. For solo travellers, a taxi is almost always more expensive than a pre-booked private transfer.
Option 3: Private Transfer (Recommended for Resorts)
A pre-booked private transfer is the most hassle-free option for international arrivals at DLM, particularly for families, groups, and anyone heading to resorts away from the main transfer routes. You agree a fixed price before travel, your driver meets you at arrivals with a name board, and you go directly to your hotel.

Dalaman’s catchment area spans an unusually wide distance range — from Göcek (30km) all the way to Marmaris (90km) and Bodrum (140km). Local operators specialising in specific routes often bid considerably below the standard rate, and the savings on longer journeys (Marmaris, Bodrum) can be significant enough to cover the cost of a meal.
For shorter routes to Fethiye, Ölüdeniz, and Dalyan, both platforms are competitive. For Marmaris, Bodrum, and any transfer over 90 minutes, checking GetTransfer alongside Kiwitaxi is consistently worthwhile.

Practical notes:

Practical Arrival Tips
Know your destination village. The Fethiye area has many named resort villages - Ölüdeniz, Hisarönü, Ovacık, Çalış, Calis Beach, Göcek. These each require different routes from the airport. Have your specific hotel address ready when you arrive.
Night arrivals: shuttle services may not run late at night outside of peak season. For arrivals after 22:00, a taxi or pre-booked private transfer is the safest option. Pre-book if possible to avoid hunting for a taxi with luggage at midnight.
SIM card: buy at the kiosk in arrivals. Tourist SIM packages start at approximately ₺400 for 30 days with 20–30GB data as of 2026. A working SIM is useful for navigating the coastal roads around Fethiye, where mobile data is your main wayfinding tool.
Currency: use bank-branded ATMs at the terminal for fair exchange rates. Carry some Turkish lira for tips or small purchases on arrival.
Peak season (July–August): the airport and surrounding roads are significantly busier. Allow extra transfer time, especially if your flight arrives in the afternoon (13:00–17:00) when midday changeover traffic peaks on the Fethiye approach roads.
