Kaş is one of the most appealing small towns on the Mediterranean coast - a former Greek fishing village built on a hillside dropping to a turquoise bay, with a scattering of Lycian rock tombs visible in the cliffs above. It has avoided the large-resort development that transformed Ölüdeniz and Kuşadası, and remains a town of narrow cobbled lanes, bougainvillea-draped houses, independent restaurants and boats moored at a simple harbour. The diving here is outstanding - the submerged Lycian ruins and clear water attract divers from across Europe. Kaş also serves as a day-trip point for Kekova island and the sunken city. Most accommodation is small, owner-operated and highly seasonal.

Practical Booking Tips
Kaş runs a strong season from May through October. July and August see the town operating at capacity - independent boutique hotels book out weeks ahead. The shoulder months of May, June and September are the most rewarding: warm water, open restaurants and noticeably fewer visitors. The famous Kaş dive sites - the Uçağı underwater plane wreck, the Tunnel, and the Lycian ruins at Kekova - are accessible by dive school throughout the season. The day trip to Kekova’s sunken city (by boat from Kaş harbour, approximately ₺600–800/person including lunch as of 2026) is one of the most impressive excursions on the Turkish coast.
