Antalya divides neatly into two very different accommodation zones. Best Areas to Stay in Antalya
Kaleiçi is the choice for couples, history lovers and anyone who prefers walking over poolside lounging. The Roman walls, Byzantine churches and Ottoman houses give the district extraordinary character, and the old harbour restaurants are some of the best in the city.
Lara Beach is optimised for resort holidays: private beaches, water slides and all-inclusive packages. It’s a 15-minute taxi ride from Kaleiçi but feels like a different world.
Konyaaltı lies northwest of the city centre with a longer public pebble beach, a less resort-heavy atmosphere and better access to the old town by tram.
Getting Around Antalya
The Antalya tramway (Nostalgic Tram) connects Kaleiçi to the Konyaaltı area in about 15 minutes and runs throughout the day for approximately ₺15 per journey. Dolmuş minibuses connect the city centre to Lara Beach (the 600 route) and Konyaaltı Beach (the 8 route) at roughly 15-minute intervals during the day. For Belek and the resort strip further east, the AntRay light rail is the most efficient option. Antalya Airport is 13km east of the city centre — the Havaş airport bus (approximately ₺80 as of 2026) drops at several central stops before the terminal. Taxis operate with meters in the city, though agreeing a price before Lara Beach runs is advisable.
Practical Booking Tips
Antalya is a major charter flight destination, which means hotel prices track flight packages closely — all-inclusive rates on Lara Beach can drop dramatically in spring and late autumn. Kaleiçi pensions stay fairly stable year-round. Summer peak runs June through September; book at least eight weeks ahead for Kaleiçi boutiques in July and August. Airport transfers to Kaleiçi run approximately ₺400–600 by taxi as of 2026. The old Roman harbour in Kaleiçi offers boat trips to Düden Waterfall (approximately ₺300–400 per person) — worth factoring into plans if staying more than two nights.
