Bodrum town is the best base for nightlife, the castle and marina dining. Central accommodation within walking distance of the harbour is ideal for those prioritising convenience.
Türkbükü is the glamour destination of the peninsula — a sheltered north-coast bay popular with Turkish celebrities and the European yacht crowd. Sea-platform restaurants and high-end boutique hotels define the atmosphere.
Yalıkavak has transformed over the past decade with a superyacht marina and international retailers. It’s quieter than Bodrum town but increasingly sophisticated.
Getting Around the Bodrum Peninsula
The peninsula’s resorts are spread across 30km of coastline and are not walkable between each other. Dolmuş minibuses run from Bodrum town’s main terminal (behind the market) to Türkbükü, Yalıkavak, Gümbet and Torba throughout the day in summer, with reduced services in shoulder season. Fares range from approximately ₺30–70 depending on distance. Taxis are widely available but expensive for cross-peninsula trips — negotiate the fare before departing. Renting a scooter or small car from Bodrum town is common and practical for exploring multiple resorts in a single day. Bodrum airport (Milas–Bodrum) is 35km northeast; airport transfers cost approximately ₺600–900 by taxi as of 2026.
Practical Booking Tips
Bodrum’s peak runs from mid-June to mid-September. In this window, last-minute availability at good properties is almost zero.
