The experience divides into four stages. First, a shuttle minibus winds up the mountain road to the launch plateau — allow 25 minutes from the beachfront. The launch itself requires no technique on your part: you run a few steps into the wind with the pilot attached behind you, the canopy fills, and you are airborne. The first minute involves climbing over the ridge; after that the pilot reads the thermals and extends the flight or takes a more direct line toward the beach.

From altitude, the view is extraordinary. The Blue Lagoon appears beneath you — turquoise inside its protected spit, darkening to open sea beyond. The Lycian mountains extend in both directions along the coast, and on clear mornings Greek islands are visible on the horizon.

Best Time to Fly

Season: April through October. The site is generally closed in winter when weather and summit access become unreliable.

Time of day: Morning flights (7–11am) have the best conditions. Thermals are calmer, visibility is clearest before afternoon haze builds, and the light is better for photography. Afternoon flights are perfectly flyable but stronger thermal activity can mean a more turbulent ride.

Booking lead time: Walk-in booking is usually possible in shoulder season (May, June, September, October). In July and August, book 2–3 days ahead or more — particularly if you want a specific operator or an early-morning slot.

Practical Details

Weight limits: Most operators accept passengers up to 100–120kg. If you are close to the limit, check directly with the operator before making the trip to the summit.

What to wear: Comfortable clothing and closed-toe shoes. The summit is significantly cooler than the beach, so bring a light layer. Secure any loose items.

After landing: The beach landing is directly beside the Blue Lagoon. Allow 3–4 hours total for the experience including the summit transfer and any wait time.
